East Nashville Magnet Middle Library

Back in the Spring, we shared our list of Summer Reading titles for each grade level. If you haven't gotten your hands on your book yet, you still have time!

Students will begin working with their grade-level Summer Reading titles only after synchronous learning begins, approximately week 3 of school (the week of August 17th).

5th Grade: The Bully by Paul Langan
6th Grade: Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis
7th Grade: Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds & Ibram X. Kendi
8th Grade: It's Trevor Noah: Born a Crime (Young Readers' Edition) by Trevor Noah

If you're looking for a copy, try one of these resources:

FREE

Nashville Public Library: All MNPS students have access to print and digital materials with their Limitless Libraries account (click here for details; school delivery is currently unavailable). *Note: Items may have wait lists and may not be available for immediate access.*

Audible (30-day free trial account): Digital audiobooks are available for listen free with a 30-day trial of Audible. You can link to an Amazon account; just be sure to cancel prior to 30 days to avoid a subscription fee!

COST

Amazon: You can find your title at various prices for either new, used, or eBook copies.

Google Play: eBook and eAudiobook versions are available for a cost through Google Play.

ThriftBooks: Used copies can be purchased at discounted prices through ThriftBooks.

It's the start of a new school year, which means it's time to set a new password to access your MNPS account!

Follow these instructions when logging into an MNPS laptop for the first time:
  1. Power on your device. Once the computer reaches the welcome screen, hold down the CTRL + ALT + DEL buttons at the same time to unlock the computer.
  2. You will need to login with your MNPS credentials:
    1. YOUR USERNAME (in case you forgot it!) is: Your First Name + First Initial of Your Last Name + Last 5 digits of your Student ID Number (ie: KariE37049)
    2. YOUR DEFAULT PASSWORD is: Eagles2020
  3. You will then be prompted to create a NEW password. Your new password must be at least 8 characters and contain both letters and numbers.
  4. Once your new password is created and confirmed, you will be logged in. From the desktop, you will see a HELP button that you can click for further instructions for connecting to the Internet!
You will need your MNPS account to access all web-based MNPS resources, including Schoology and Infinite Campus, that you will need for Virtual Learning.

For additional help, please access the MNPS Technology Support page, or call the Help Desk at 615-269-5956 with further questions!

For your one-stop guide to resources and assignments for all grade levels, please visit the official East Middle Enrichment Hub on Schoology.

All East Middle Magnet students are automatically enrolled in the group.

    • ie: karie29638@mnpsk12.org
  • Password: same password student uses to log into MNPS computers

If you are having trouble logging in or have forgotten your password, you will need to contact the MNPS Help Desk at 615-269-5956.

Our library may be closed, but you can still check out books! Did you know that your Limitless Libraries account allows you to get eBooks and audiobooks for FREE on your phone or tablet??

Watch this tutorial about using an app called Libby, so you won't be stuck at home without a book. And be sure to follow the library Instagram page, @easteagleslibrary, for more updates!

Picture books are a great way to introduce and encourage the ten characteristics of the IB Learner Profile. They are short, accessible, and can foster great discussion. Consider using these texts for seminar in your PLT or academic classes!

Click the links below for a list of books that are available in our library.

Limitless Libraries is a city-wide program that allows MNPS students to request items from the Nashville Public Library (NPL) and have them delivered to school. This means you have access to NPL's huge collection of books, DVDs, CDs, and more, without an extra trip to a library branch.

It's as simple as:
  1. Search or browse the NPL website, and find an item you want.
  2. Request the item by logging in with your student account (information below).
  3. Pick your item up at the East MS Library.
  4. Return it to the East MS Library when you're done!

Here's your LOG-IN information:
  • Your Library Card Number is your student ID (starts with 190...).
  • You PIN number is the 2-digit month and 2-digit day of your birthday (MMDD). For example, if your birthday is October 12, your PIN number would be 1012. Do not include the year or any slashes.
More important information:
  • The books you receive from the NPL will include a sticker with a due date. Do not remove this sticker! You MUST return the materials to the East MS Library by the date listed. You can also renew materials online as long as no one has placed a hold on your item.
  • You CANNOT request R-rated materials.
  • You don't need a separate library card to check out items from an NPL branch; you can just use your Student ID number!

PLEASE REMEMBER: If you do not return items you've checked out from Limitless Libraries, your account WILL be charged. If you have over $20 in Limitless Libraries/NPL fines, you will NOT be able to request items through Limitless Libraries OR check out books at a public library branch using your student ID.
As a full-time, certificated teacher, you are entitled to an Educator account with Limitless Libraries!

What does this mean?
  • You can check out up to 100 items from the Nashville Public Library.
  • Those materials will be delivered to you AT SCHOOL.
  • You can also RETURN them to the library at school.
  • Check-out periods range from 7 days to 6 weeks!

Sure books are great, but did you know you could also check out these things for your classroom??
  • DVDs
  • CDs
  • Audiobooks (CD and Playaway)
  • Book Club kits, (10 copies of the same book + discussion questions; click here for the list)
  • Curriculum kits (a variety of resources on a particular topic; click here for the list)

Now, HOW TO GET STARTED:
  • Visit (and bookmark!) library.nashville.org
  • Search for a particular title/author/subject/etc
  • When you find an item you want, click the blue PLACE HOLD button next to the media type you are requesting (ie: book, audiobook, Large Print, etc.)
  • Login with your credentials
    • Your educator account number ("library barcode") is your 6-digit employee number.
    • Your default pin for the 2019-2020 school year is 2019.
  •  Make sure the delivery location is correct (East Nashville Magnet Middle School).

Other important notes:
  • You may only check out one Book Club in a Bag at a time.
  • You may only check out one Curriculum Kit at a time.
  • You may not request multiple copies of the same title of a book. (NPL does not provide classroom sets.)
  • No R-rated materials may be borrowed on this card.
  • Courtesy reminders will be sent via email 2 days before due date.
  • Overdue notices will be sent via email.
  • Your account will be subject to fines. Lost and damaged materials must be paid for or replaced in accordance with NPL policy.
  • NPL has the right to not lend material due to popularity, condition, size, etc. or may restrict borrowed items to Library Use Only.
